Early Summer Exhibition 2014

PETER BEARD New Ceramics and Sculpture

Saturday 7 June 12 - 5  and  Sunday 8 June 11 - 4  2014

Peter Beard creates works of art in ceramics, bronze and stone which combine technical skill with innovation, craftsmanship with ingenuity, passion with intellect. Each piece is unique and intriguing, each invites us to look and feel, to make associations with personal experiences and recall memories from our past.

Much of the work is inspired by nature, particularly landscape and its formation by the forces of wind and water. Nothing is treated literally; these are the starting points for explorations which Peter develops in his studio.

David Dewing Historian and Director of the Geffrye Museum London

This exhibition follows his highly acclaimed solo exhibition at Rufford Ceramics Centre.  Peter Beard’s work is held in national and international collections.

James Campbell trained as a potter, and became part of the movement towards sculptural ceramics.  However he has always drawn and painted, in Scotland, Wales on the Pembroke Coast, and more recently Worcestershire and the Cotswolds; absorbing the romance of some of the most beautiful landscape in Britain into his work.

It is his paintings and drawings that are being featured with Peter Beard’s ceramics and sculpture in this exhibition, two artists informed by aspects of landscape and seascape.

The National Museum & Gallery of Wales have both paintings and ceramics by James Campbell in their collection.
